Our Breeding Program & a few of the Broodmares
Congratulations to Vibrant Peanut (above-photo by Holman Photography), Champion Ranch Horse of the Rocky Mountain Quarter Horse Stallion Stakes Remuda Challenge for 2004 and Reserve Champion for 2005. The Remuda Challenge Championship is a regular AQHA Versatility Ranch Horse competition for 3-6 year old quarter horses by stallions that were nominated to the Stallion Stakes. Vibrant Peanut is a 2001 buckskin gelding by Vibrant Ginseng out of our mare, Silkys Blue San. Peanut is continuing his training and is competing in Versatility Ranch Horse competitions. The overall goal of our breeding program is to produce future cowhorses with good minds, gentle dispositions, a willingness to learn and a desire to please. We also use our horses for trail riding and riding and packing for hunting and summer trips to the mountains-we expect them to do it all. It all starts with the broodmare. The mares need to have these traits and have the ability to pass them on to the babies. We have raised most of our broodmares so we know they possess these traits. The mares we raise have all been used for ranch work, trail riding, hunting and packing, and most have been to the show ring as well.
Silky
Baby San (above), "Silky" was the granddame of our ranch and
a granddaughter of Mr San Peppy. We have kept most of her fillies to
be future broodmares, however we currently have one of her daughters
for sale-find additional information about her in the "Sale Corral".
Silky was an AQHA point earner and producer. All of her babies have
the best of dispositions-gentle, willing, and ice to be around. Her
babies have all been performing horses with lots of cow sense. Her daughters
have also passed along these traits.
Silkys Blue San (above) , aka, "Shadow" was a Mr San Peppy, Boston Mac, and Silky Fox bred mare. We raised her and used her for ranch work, team penning, and general trail riding before becoming a broodmare. Her oldest foal is now 5 and is continuing his training for future ranch horse competitions.
Lucky Girl 863 (above) is a Doc Bar bred mare. She raises good minded foals with the classic quarter horse look. She was headed for the NCHA futurity as a 3 year old until an injury moved her to the broodmare band. We recently sold her 2003 dun filly by Chex N Dun It, watch for this filly in the 2006 Reined Cow Horse Futuries. See her picture on our For Sale page under the "Recently Sold" heading. We still have her 2005 palomino filly by Vibrant Ginseng. She is for sale.
