Here's
a little information about us & how this site got started
(more to come!):
In 1999,
when I was 13 years old, I 'stole' my dads computer (I used to
sneak into his office and use it all the time). I played around
with it and started to develop an interest in website & graphics
design. He bought me a big 1,100 page book on the subject. I started
reading it -- and other items I could find -- and decided it would
be fun to start my own website.
In 2000
I set up my first site -- The
ULTIMATE Horse Site -- which is still up & running today.
I have visitors all over the world come to the site, email me,
and the site was featured in magazines in Australia, Norway, the
US. As you can imagine, after awhile with that site, I got a lot
of experience and learned a lot more. I read up just about everything
to do with websites -- and expirimented with different tecniques
on my site. I learned the proper way to design sites, little tricks
to help them get ranked higher in search engines, what not to
do, ways to make the site user friendly, etc.
Soon I got requests for web design -- people asked if I could
build a site for them. I thought about it, and I built a few sites
for different people. Then, I set up this site, Ultimate Horse
Sites, and my business grew & grew.
Besides
the website business, I also work with horses. I have studied
equine color genetics as an amateur and run a website on that
too -- www.ColorfulHorses.com
That's
me above, on my Appaloosa horse Zippo. I taught him to rear on
comand & do other tricks-- he is a very intelligent horse.
Besides him, I also have a few quarter horses, a Tennnessee Walker,
and on the ranch we have other QHs, Appys, TB/QH crosses, an Arabian,
& two grade ponies.
Recently
(well, for more than a year now), Caterina, my little sister,
became interested in websites. I started teaching her and letting
her help me out on some sites. Now, she's able to build sites
herself (I still review them) and she is, I feel, ready to be
an active part of this website business. She does great design
work and, like me, enjoys doing it.
Caterina
barrel races her paint horse, Teko.
